East Central Regional Product Council (RPC): Fall City Visit, Pittsburgh PA

Open ONLY to Accepted RPC Members for the NEW 2018-2019 season from participating cities including: Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus, Indianapolis, Kentucky and Pittsburgh.  Interested Applicants must consult with their local District Council Coordinator or Staff Member to participate in this event. ULI Pittsburgh is pleased to welcome accepted members of the East Central RPC to Pittsburgh for the 2018 Fall City Visit scheduled: Wednesday, October 24-Thursday, October 25, 2018.

Wednesday, October 24

Optional Daytime Wednesday Tour: Emerging Millennials and The Suburbs (multi-stop walking tour focused on TOD, Housing, and Mixed Use Development in the South Hills of Pittsburgh).

12:15pm – Meet at Kimpton Hotel Monaco Lobby (drop bags with front desk as this is pre-check in).  Group will walk 3 blocks to Steel Plaza Transit Station to experience Pittsburgh’s Light Rail, the “T”: 12:34pm train pickup (appx. 30 min travel time to destination). *Alternately, some attendees be traveling and passing this area from points west, and prefer to simply use personal vehicles.   Confirmation emails week of program will determine best option.

1:15pm South Hills Project Tour will include: The Ashby at South Hills Village Station and Siena at St. Clair (new construction premiere patio homes and townhouses).  Those participating in this optional afternoon tour will stop for group lunch if desired (individual payments, not included in RPC fee) before our return via “T” to the hotel appx. 3:30pm.

4:00pm Hotel Check In – Pittsburgh’s Hotel Monaco, A Kimpton Property

5:15pm Please meet in Hotel Lobby at 5:15pm sharp. for Early Evening Walking Tour: Enjoy The Strip District and a tour of 3 Crossings (20 acre mixed-use Oxford Development).

7:00pm Dinner at Pittsburgh’s #1 rated restaurant (*Trip Advisor): Gaucho Parrilla.  Pittsburgh has an exciting food and beverage scene.  Gaucho is a local favorite featuring Argentinian fare and BYOB.  Join us in the “bodega”, where we invite you to bring a bottle of your favorite wine (red or white) to share with the group.  

Thursday, October 25 (estimated departure: appx. 4pm)

**Given the full tour day, please be prepared to check out of the hotel early and have the concierge hold your bag as we will not be returning before 11am Check Out. Again, comfortable walking shoes encouraged. 

7:30am Product Council Meeting + Continental Breakfast hosted by: STRADA Architects (location: Strada: 611 William Penn Place, Pittsburgh PA 15219.  Location is directly across street from hotel.)

8:50am Presentation: Pittsburgh Eco-Innovation and BRT Plan with Derek Dauphin, City of Pittsburgh – Department of City Planning

9:30am Chartered Bus will load on William Penn Way (between Strada and hotel).

Get to Know: Lawrenceville, Garfield and Oakland with special tour stops including:

Arsenal by Milhaus | The Foundry at 41st by Walnut Capital | Penn Mathilda by Action Housing

12:45pm Weather permitting, we will enjoy a boxed lunch in Schenley Plaza “Oakland’s Green Oasis” with Georgia Petropolous of the Oakland Business Innovation District.

Returning to the heart of the city by bus, we’ll meet up at Mellon Square with Chris Watts, VP Mobility – Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership to showcase some of the exciting developments in the Urban Core. Expect stops to include Pittsburgh’s new JLL office, named one of Pittsburgh’s “coolest offices”, before we complete the trip with private access tour to PNC Tower (the “greenest” office tower in the world)!

4:00pm Return to Hotel. Tour Conclusion.

This event requires a 2 part registration process:

EVENT REGISTRATION – ACCEPTED RPC MEMBERS (RPC CODE required- event cost included in your Annual RPC Member Dues). Please contact your District Council if you do not yet have your RPC “Comp Code.”

HOTEL REGISTRATION – GROUP RATE (paid individually) * Group Rate guaranteed thru 10/09/2018.  Should rooms be unavailable after this date, alternate hotels include: Omni William Penn and Embassy Suites in the immediate area.
