Insights Into Leadership: The Work of Leaders – What Makes a True Leader

As part of the next chapter in Women’s Leadership Initiative of Advancing Leaders, Insights into Leadership focused on the mission-critical work of leaders.  On Wednesday, August 30, nearly 50 women and men met at the Duquesne Club for networking, a presentation from Alison Valli of Dimension Leadership Group, and a panel discussion featuring Michele Allerton, Associate Director at Integra Realty Resources, Anne Chen, Principal at GBBN Architects/EDGE Studio, and Mary Guinee, Vice President at Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc.

This interactive program included exploration of the difference between leading and managing as well as the specific leadership competencies that must be developed in order to lead effectively, namely, the ability to craft a compelling vision, build alignment, and champion execution.  Participants also enjoyed a lively discussion with panelists, which highlighted the inspiring leadership journey of each of these accomplished business leaders.  Our thanks to Michele, Anne, and Mary for sharing their experiences and words of wisdom with us!

Save the Date: The final chapter of Advancing Leaders, Work of Leaders, will be hosted on Wednesday, November 8 at the Duquesne Club. This program will offer an Accelerated DISC morning training to prepare for our afternoon Work of Leaders Assessment Workshop.  No reason to miss this great leadership day!
