Katharine’s Insights

Enjoying an evening at BNY Mellon, on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 the ULI Women’s Leadership Initiative hosted “A Conversation with Katharine Eagan Kelleman.” The program began with relationship development where nearly 60 attendees gathered to learn more about Katharine’s 20 years of professional experience in the transit industry. Recently named CEO of Port Authority of Allegheny County, Katharine shared her personal and professional experiences with attendees.

In a lively interview moderated by Andrea Geraghty, Partner at Meyer, Unkovic & Scott LLP and Chair of the Women’s Leadership Initiative, Katharine emphasized that coming to Pittsburgh was a dream come true and stated, “who wouldn’t want to be in Pittsburgh right now?” Expanding on her time in Texas and Florida working in transit, Katharine told attendees that “transit is transit wherever you go, but what changes is the scale.”

Katharine exudes enthusiasm and excitement to continue her work in Pittsburgh. She noted that while national public transit ridership is down 10%, Pittsburgh is only down 1% and is confident in Port Authority’s ability to maintain riders. Katharine concluded by explaining that she wants to build a safe environment for riders and continue to increase the value of Port Authority.

Thank you to Katharine Eagan Kelleman and Andrea Geraghty for providing an enriching evening.

WLI will continue this yearlong “A Conversation With” series along with valuable leadership enhancing programming.

Special thanks to Event Sponsor BNY Mellon.
