Name: Brian Redmond
Company/Organization: PNC Bank
Current position (and what do you do) and for how long: Vice President and Relationship Manager within PNC Real Estate. I am a commercial real estate lender covering clients headquartered in Eastern Canada, Upstate New York, Western Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. My first day at PNC was in June of 2015, and at that time I was a Real Estate Rotational Analyst.
Place of birth/hometown: Cincinnati, Ohio
School attended: University of Cincinnati
The most satisfying part of my job: Seeing a construction project reach completion that utilized my loan dollars as part of the capital stack.
Your strongest leadership quality: Compassion. I work to understand others because a leader cannot succeed without proper consideration of an individual’s background and unique situation.
Career/Leadership advice: Remember your individual primary reason behind why you do the work that you do. Maybe you do it because you love your job. Maybe you do it to put food on the table for your family. Maybe you do it to help others and improve the world. Whatever your reason, focus on the “why” every day, because it will make the good days feel more meaningful and the bad days feel more transitory.
Who do you most admire and why: My dad. He has been a source of strength and advice throughout my life, always demonstrates care as a father and husband, and runs a small business with grit, knowledge, and integrity.
Goal yet to be achieved: Consistently scoring in the 90s over 18 holes on a golf course – I am an aspiring, but not a talented, golfer…
What is the coolest real estate project/land use challenge you have participated in? The Van Aken District in the Shaker Heights neighborhood of Cleveland, Ohio, is a transformative mixed-used development where the retail space is tenanted by local and regionally owned small businesses.
Favorite quote: “The difference between the possible and impossible lies in a man’s determination.” – Tommy Lasorda
Last book read or movie watched: In December of ’21, I finished reading Cloud Cuckoo Land by Anthony Doerr. It is a phenomenal, long book that doesn’t feel lengthy because it is so fascinating.
Favorite vacation spot: Send me to any beach in Florida and I’m happy!
Favorite cause: Mental health advocacy
Favorite restaurant: Mojo’s Tacos in Franklin, Tennessee
Family: My wife Kaitlyn and our dog Griffey
Hobbies/Interests: Lifting weights, riding bikes, golfing, reading, attending sports games, watching Marvel movies, and spending time with my family and friends.
Why I belong to ULI: I want to constantly learn more about the built environment around me and connect with others who have the same curiosity.
Why ULI is important to me and my career/company: ULI enables PNC Real Estate, and me as an employee, to become a better commercial real estate lender by serving as a source for knowledge and business relationships.
