As a continuation and deeper dive into the trends identified in ULI Pittsburgh’s December program, Anna Zetkulic of the Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) made her way to Pittsburgh on June 2nd for a thought-provoking presentation on Urban Transformation. Her presentation included RMI’s UrbanFootprint maps showing the evolution of Pittsburgh’s housing costs, locations, and jobs, along with strategies for balancing density, diversity, and anti-displacement on the road to decarbonization. After providing real-world examples of how walkability, micro-mobility, new mobilities, and other low-carbon, access-centered transportation support the revitalization of underserved neighborhoods, Anna discussed how local investments like the BRT will catalyze new, mixed-income development. A moderated discussion led by Jeff Burd of Tall Timber Group was followed by a local panel that included Beth Eckenrod of AUROS Group, Chris Sandvig of Mobilify, Brandon Mendoza of NAIOP Pittsburgh, and Chris Watts of the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership. Special thanks to Branch Pattern and Pete Jefferson, our presenting sponsor, and our other event sponsors, Oakland Business Improvement District, Walnut Capital, Tucker Arensberg, Elmhurst Group, and AUROS.
